2 month update!

my boys are 2 months old!!
everyone says they cant believe how fast time goes.. and now i totally understand!
Its really amazing how fast babies grow up right before your eyes.

In the second month there was alot of change. You both started to become so alert and stay up longer in the day. around 6 weeks we started to get real smiles back at us! They are so cute and melt me everytime. You also are talking to us a bit and its awesome to hear your noises. You both have shown me your awesome vocals when your hungry and mommas not fast enough. Its usually when you are both hungry at the same time and then i feel like a chicken with my head cut off.

As for tummy time.. Jack you dont mind it for a bit. you can turn your head to each side and lift it for a short amount of time.
James you dont really like tummy time at all..hah you usually just plant your face right on the floor lol so i have to flip you on your back...
I need to do more tummy time.

Stats!
Jack 9 pounds 13 ounces
up from 7 pound 5 at 1 month
6 pounds 2 ounces at birth!

James 9 pounds 8 ounces
up from 7 pound 3 at 1 month
5 pounds 14 ounces at birth!

Clothes
You are both offically just in 0-3 months
you stopped wearing newborn a week before your 2 month bday

You both moved up to size 1 diapers around 5 weeks

Eating
You both eat every 3 hours sometimes seems closer to 2 hours some days
You drink anywhere from 2 - 4 ounces of formula
Jack your almost always 4 ounces James seems to eat less..
You will nurse anywhere from 2 mins to 15 mins..
So sometimes you are satisfied with just that
(Jack decent at latching now, James still needs work sometimes)

Sleeptime!
We have been putting you to bed at 7:30 for almost a month now..
We feed you around 6:45- 7 pm in the bedroom with lights out
you guys never cry when we put you down because we know youre tired!!
We would have to go in a few times to replace a soother or re swaddle and then you were both passed out within 45 mins.
WELL last night was the first night we didnt have to go in at all!! You both feel right asleep :) (my routine is paying off)
This is your longest stretch at night you will usually sleep until 12-1am
& then after that its every 3 hours on the dot! haha
So i usually go to bed around 9
You both still love to be swaddled

PLAY
You just recently started to hit your toys on your rocking seats! so cute watching you focus and try so hard!

I cant wait for what this next month of growth brings!

2 month picture coming asap!

Sleeping babies

When the boys finally fall asleep in the day at the same time, i

-Tip toe everywhere because our place is so squeaky!
-I dont flush the toilet when i pee because its near the living room & they will hear
-I always have to sneeze when they are sleeping or falling asleep for some reason so i have to hold in my sneezes & i hate doing that!
-Constantly look at the clock because their naps never last very long & i savour every minute

hah as i was writing this jack decided he was done napping after 30 mins and wanted a snack..

Saturday's are great :)

Today a friend of ours came over in the morning and we did photos of the boys! I cant wait to see what they look like.. i didnt peak or ask to see any of them because i want it to be like a surprise when they are done :) They did so good for 3 hours! & then they started to get really fussy and the room was pretty warm after a while ( needed to be heated because we did nudie pics of them hehe) Anyways i will post the pics as soon as i get them :)

We also went out to Brandons Opa & grandmas house for them to finally meet the boys! We are going back next week and Brandons dad will also be in town so we are going to get to take a picture of the 4 generations of boys! So cool! The boys are doing so well with car rides! they usually will fall asleep a few minutes into the ride.. farthest drive with the boys so far has been about 40 mins.

I love weekends :) Tomorrow i think me and brandon are going to let his mom babysit for the first time and he may take me to go see the hunger games! I read the books and i cant wait to see the movie, especially because ive heard such good things!

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend aswell!

Birth story!

So i thought i would write about my boys birthday story, the amazing day they joined us in this world! :)

February 21 2012 was the day i finally got to hear, see, and feel them! I had waited for what felt like forever...but looking back on it time went by so fast! I was 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant and it was the day of my schedualed C-section. My doctor let me know when i first started seeing her that i would not be allowed to go past 38 weeks.. In the ultrasounds leading up to 38 weeks baby A (who we named Jack) was breach and he had been that way for a while.. I prayed every night that he would decide to flip around.. I even did the go on all fours move and maybe that will make him flip NOPE! As i said in another post they saw that his umbilical cord was kind of 'looped' around his neck.. no harm but that it could be whats preventing him from flipping..oh and then there is that other baby.. As weeks past my hope was fading.. I really really did want a vaginal birth so badly it makes me want to cry. I wanted that skin to skin right after birth moment.. with the umbilical cord still attatched and everything. I wanted that accomplishment of birthing 2 babies in a row! I would have given anything to have that.. except the health of my baby boys.. and with jack being breach..C section it was.

So back to the morning of february 21.. alarm goes off at 4:30 am.. not that it matters im awake anyways.. from the anticipation and anxiety of getting cut wide open..the excitement of getting to meet my boys..oh and of course from the terrible heartburn i experienced the last 2 months of pregnancy. We had to be at the hospital for just after 6 am so that left us an hour to shower up and make sure i had everything i needed and we were off! But first i wanted a picture of me at the door on the way out.. the last time my belly would EVER be that huge again..
classy eh..

I have never ever been in the hospital minus the day i was born myself.. so this was a whole new experience for me.. I was nervous about getting an IV for the first time and having to get an epidural in my spine :s. & of course scared about having "major surgery". We got there and checked in and we requested a private room. THANK GOD brandons step dad offered to pay for a private room, I would have died without it!

When they took us to the O.R prep area it was so chaotic! There were nurses and doctors everywhere and a bunch of other patients waiting to go into surgery it was scary! Then when i had to leave brandon to go into the room to get my epidural and be prepped up and it was so hard to not have him beside me for this part.. I HATE NEEDLES they scare me and he gets me through everything! Thankfully i really didnt even feel it.. 10 mins later he was with me again.. but he was having to hold a tray to my mouth as im laying down throwing up ( from the drugs) aha also i was shivering like crazy!! Im pretty sure that was from the other drugs they gave me to calm down the barfing! Anyways then im all numb and they are ready to go.. not to long after that..
8:39 Am Jack Jay Phillips was born weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces!

2 min later 8:41 am James Stephen Phillips was born!! Weighing 5 pounds 14 ounces!

I remember hearing Jack cry but i dont recall hearing James.. im not sure if i was just really out of it or what but the whole first day is pretty fuzzy! Brandon even got to cut the extra part of their umbilical cords off! Then i got to see them all bundled up in their blankets and they were so precious and finally here!!

They then wheeled me into recovery and i was still shivering like crazy!! I felt so weird.. and to be honest i dont even remember the recovery room! And im pretty sure we were in there for like 2 hours.. I remember being wheeled into my private room though.. and then i remember everyone visiting that day and how over whelming it was.. Just recovering from the surgery and meeting my babies it was alot in one day. That night when everyone left.. poor brandon did everything for me and the babies because i was stuck in bed.. he did so good though! he had to do this for 2 days and nights for me until i was out of bed and able to walk around. The babies had a bit of trouble nursing, they would fall asleep.. or just not stay latched very long so it was a struggle .. also Jack had alot of left over mucus and he spat up alot which was scary! They made us start toping the babies up with formula..which i refused to at first because i have always been SO pro breastfeeding.. i had it set in my head i could and would nurse them exclusively.. But Jack was loosing to much weight.. so now all i thought about was making my baby gain weight so he would be healthy and not have to go to the NICU because they said he may have to if he kept loosing weight.. So i made it my goal that next 24 hours to beef him up! I had to make sure he was eating alot and keeping it down because i dont think i could be strong enough to deal with the NICU ( For those moms who have had to experience the NICU, you are so amazing! Such strong mommies!) They also made jack have several blood tests which i totally balled my eyes out having to see all that blood come out of the little body..

Jack ended up gaining the weight back and we were OKayed to leave the next day! Early afternoon of day 4 we left the hospital and headed off to our new life!! Of course i had to sit in between them in the back seat.. and we soon realized the car we bought for me and the boys (my mommy car) was to small!! haha with 2 carseats you dont realize how much room is taken up.

Well im pretty sure i totally babbled on but thats some of my story..
Also i would like to add the 21 is my lucky number and i did not get to choose the day they were born on. February 21 also happens to be my fathers birthday who passed away 16 years ago..so this day is extra extra special to me :) (L)(L)

My pregnancy story

Ok so here is a little bit about my pregnancy since im starting this blog after I had my babies.

We found out I was pregnant in July 2011 we wernt trying to get pregnant so that should answer any "Was it IVF?" no it was not.. it was a natural conception. We were very excited to find out we were going to have a baby though, and in August when we found out we were having twins we were even more excited!!

This picture is the first one I took when I found out.. so its at the 7 week mark..Wow i reallllyyy hope i can get my tummy back!!!!!

7 weeks
8 weeks

9 weeks (got sunburnt)

11 weeks

12 weeks

13 weeks
There is a gap between 13 and 19 weeks.. we ended up moving into Brandons grandma & grandpas so we could save up some money..and i guess i got lazy with pictures..

19 weeks

22 weeks
Again another big gap with no pictures :(
28 weeks

30 weeks

34 weeks

36 weeks

My pregnancy went pretty well.. there wernt any problems with the boys growth or anything.. I had ultrasounds every 2 weeks! ughh that was crazy and i had doctors appointments every 2 weeks and then every week for like the last month and a half. Because they were identical twins sharing the same placenta my obgyn wanted me to take iron suppliments aswell as my regular pre-natal vitamin. She also informed me that she would only allow me to go to 38 weeks gestation because they may start to get to cramped inside my belly and start to cause problems! I really think i would have made it to 40 weeks because my cervix NEVER CHANGED at all up to the 38 week mark.. and i barely had braxton hicks at all.

I would have loved to have an all natural vaginal birth.. actual i dreamed about it.. i really wanted it so bad.. but my little jackie boy decided he wanted to be born another way.. Jack was baby A and he was breach from about 30 weeks mark.. They discovered that his umbilical cord was "looped" around his neck and that was most likely what was preventing him from flipping around.. I crossed my fingers and prayed that he would somehow end up flipping so I could have my natural birth.. but February 21st rolled around the C section day and he was still breach..

This is a picture of me on the morning we were going to the hospital
37 weeks and 5 days !
Keep in mind it was like 5 am and of course I didnt sleep so I look awful!! haha but im HUGE!

One last picture to make up for that hideous one..
This is my fav picture of me pregnant.. I was around 26 weeks pregnant

Wednesday morning..

Good morning! (for me anyways)

Well I wouldn't say it was that great actually it started off on the wrong foot.

We slept past my boyfriends alarm for work.. :| worst nightmare! See my boyfriend got a promotion at work a few weeks ago which is awesome! except he has to start work waaaay earlier than usual..like getting up 3 hours earlier than before! He has to wake up at 3:30am to get ready for work. Well technically for him to get 8 hours of sleep he should go to bed at 7:30 lol which is so early to us! We used to go to bed at 10-11pm so its really hard to adjust your sleeping habits by that much.. needless to say we dont go to bed when we should. We usually get the babies down by 9 if we are lucky so he gets 6 ish hours of rest & that makes him very sleepy!! I am also exhausted of course.. having not had a full nights rest in 3 months (terrible sleep in last trimester). SOOO BASICALLY.. we are so tired its so easy to sleep through my damn alarm!!!

So I woke up from Jack waking up & looked at my clock and it was 4:19am.. omg Brandon had to be at work in 11 mins!!! SHIT! I woke Brandon up and i felt sooooo terrible! I always do when we sleep in because of me (Im in control of the alarm clock because Brandons such a deep sleeper) Anywho im sure he got there right around 4:30 lucky the traffic isnt so bad this early.

That was my morning so far.. haha Im going to go take the boys for a walk around 9ish maybe as long as its not raining.. When you live in the Vancouver area.. its so unpredictable! I really should be sleeping right now because the twins are asleep in there bouncy chairs in the living room but im scared when i lay down on the couch they will wake up haha because we have a leather couch and its kinda noisy.. There is music playing off the TV for them to sleep to right now.. Brandon informed me that was the way to get them to go back to sleep in the early morning (I have trouble). So thats what he does on saturday morning when he lets me go back to sleep :) & he watches the twins..He turns on the tunes and the go to sleep and he gets some house work done while I catch an hour or so.. because thats all my sub concious will allow me to take haha.. is it seperation or guilt because brandons doing it alone who knows.. I will get sleep one day!! ONE DAY im really hoping..haha

OK heres a few pics of my boys just some I really like:

Introducing my boys!

These are my boys!

Jack & James

This picture was taken about a week ago so that would make them around 5 weeks old in the picture. I was trying to do a photoshoot of them in actual clothes and not sleepers for the first time! Didnt work out well because James just wanted to sleep..

My twins were born February 21st 2012. Jack was born at 8:39 Am at 6 pounds 2 ounces! James was born at 8:41 am at 5 pounds 12 ounces. They were 37 weeks and 5 days by C section. I will do an actual 'Birth Story' soon.

First time out alone

Today was my 6 week check up with my obgyn..first off I can't believe its already 6 weeks today that we had our babies! So I had to bring the babies with me to my doctors and I was all alone.. Brandon was at work so this was going to be my first time doing it all by myself. I started off my day around 4:30Am..because thats when the twins decided they were up for a while.. After their feed I started to organize stuff for the appointment. I had to be there for 11:30. I really am glad I started early because it was very stressful trying to get 2 babies out the door calm!

This is how my day went:

4:30 warm up bottles, change a babe, feed a babe
5:15 change other babe, feed babe
5:45 pack diaper bag, get outfits organized, get receiving blankets rolled up for carseats
6:15 wash bottles & partially get myself ready
7:00 change babe, feed babe, burp babe
7:30 change other babe, feed babe, burp babe
8:15 Pump for trip incase they get hungry
8:30 some how finish getting myself ready while keeping babies content
9:00 change babe, feed babe, burp babe
9:45 change other babe, feed babe, burp babe
10:20 change outfits and bibs (from night time) get in carseat and ready to go
10:45 out the door

WHEW.. They did good on the ride there.. got a little fussy as I struggle to get them on the stroller & try not to get rain in their faces..
Cried a little bit in the doctors office while waiting to be seen.. but the sookie always calms you down for a little bit..

On the ride home Jack was a little bit fussy and then when I pulled up to home, they were both very upset! haha It was feeding time by now and they were done with being strapped in for 2 hours!

Fed them both around 12:45 pm and finally got them both asleep at 2:45 so I could wash bottles again!!

Over all I dont think I will do a trip like that again by myself for at least another month or 2!! I will stick to walks near the house for now.

Well one of the babies will be waking up any moment im sure!
